Calling upon the Name of the Lord

“For whosoever shall call upon the NAME of the LORD shall be saved.” Romans 10:13. These are “the remnant whom the LORD” calls into HIS name. Joel 2:32. These are they who have heard “the voice of the SON of GOD,” John 5:25, and consequently are calling upon his NAME, continually, (“by HIM therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his NAME,” Hebrews 13:15,) exclusively, (“neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other NAME under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved,” Acts 4:12,) and savingly, (“the NAME of the LORD is a strong tower, the righteous runneth into it, and is safe,” Proverbs 18:10,) or saved. “Ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the NAME of the Lord Jesus.” I Corinthians 6:11. What is this calling upon the NAME of the LORD? Whatever it entails, it certainly is nothing less than renouncing our own name, our own life, everything that we are in ourselves, in our name, and losing our identity in ANOTHER. “This is the NAME wherewith she shall be called, the LORD our righteousness.” Jeremiah 33:1. This is that “NAME which is above every name,” and the only NAME which gives us “access by one Spirit unto the Father,” Ephesians 2:18, and the only NAME that we should be confessing to the exclusion of everything else! Rejoicing in that name alone, (“in thy NAME shall they rejoice all the day, and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted,” Psalm 89:16,) trusting in that name exclusively, (“I will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the NAME of the LORD,” Zephaniah 3:12,) and abiding therein, (“and now, little children, abide in HIM,” I John 2:28,) in a complete abandonment and total surrender to the fact that there really is salvation in no other NAME, but in this NAME exclusively, “which is above every name,” Philippians 2:9, and all our identity/name (“I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but CHRIST,” Galatians 2:20,) – everything we are, and “whatsoever we do in word or deed” is all “in the NAME of the Lord Jesus,” Colossians 3:17, (not audaciously, acting as if we were His only legitimate witness on earth,) but truthfully as our identity is lost in Christ, (“whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it,” Matthew 16:25,) and everything to do with our salvation from beginning to end, is unified and amalgamated under that name, and this confession is “to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:11. May we be found amongst the “sanctified in Christ Jesus,” called saints, and with all that in every place call upon the NAME of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours,” I Corinthians 1:2, those that are calling upon the “NAME of the LORD, for his NAME alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.” Psalm 148:13.
