Glory of Propitiation: I have not been able to get the thought of propitiation out of my mind. The more I think about it, the more I am simply dumbfounded by the glory of what Christ accomplished. I don’t know how much of this I understand perfectly. I am sure there are depths here I have barely touched. But the little I do know, and the little I do understand, is enough to make me say without hesitation: this is everything. This is a hill to die on. Because at the center of the gospel stands this question: Did Christ actually save His people, or did He merely make salvation possible for them? On that, I don’t know how we can be uncertain. We are either saved by Christ, by the righteousness He established, the obedience He rendered, and the satisfaction He made in His blood, or salvation finally rests somewhere else. And the glory of propitiation is that it leaves us nowhere else to look. MPJ
